Readymoney Cove

I’ve had a little change around here as you might be able to see. New format and new picture. The picture itself, in case you were wondering, is of Readymoney Cove in Fowey, believe it or not. It looks quite tropical and beautiful! I was lucky to be there on a really beautiful weekend and caught this picture in the morning.

It is a wonderful cove, and du Maurier herself lived in a house overlooking it for a year during the second world war. The house itself has a little plaque with this information on. In Flavia Leng’s memoir, du Maurier’s second daughter, she writes a lot about the time that they lived in this house, and it is a fascinating read and portrait of du Maurier as a mother. Definitely worth a read!

du Maurier Festival

Just a quick post to say that the du Maurier festival is on now! I wish I could be there and despite my best attempts to promise myself I would be there, I am not… unfortunately. But I hope it goes well, and those that are there, enjoy. If you haven’t heard of it, do look it up, it looks to be a wonderful couple of weeks as ever.
